    August 3rd, 2006Dovedale - July 2006
The sun came out and Daniel and I decided to go for a drive up to Ashbourne and Dovedale, to climb Thorpe Cloud (again).

Daniel wore his wellies, and finally managed to paddle the entire length of the River Dove as it follows the path back to the car park. He found a way to bring back some of the river with him - inside his wellies!
July 5th, 2006Red Hot Chili Peppers Gig - Derby, UK
The Chilis played Derby's Pride Park Stadium. We booked tickets six months previously, and then here we were, standing in front of the best band in the world, enjoying the best gig of my life. What a night! The atmosphere was amazing - 'lotta love in the air in Derby that night!

Daniel and I took a walk along the Willington canal stretch, up towards the railway lines and over the metal bridge, then back along the canal via a magical and secluded mossy meadow filled with baby oak trees and old hawthorns. We named the meadow 'Rabbit Heaven' as it is heavenly, peaceful, clearly filled with rabbits living underneath the grass surface and is perfect to lie back in and relax with a picnic.

    May 21st, 2005Warwick Castle, Warwick UK - 2005
Daniel, Andrew and I took a trip out to Warwick Castle in May 2005. We spent the whole day there, and tried to see everything. Daniel was too young for the ghost experience. We wandered around the Victorian Rose Garden, saw the birds of prey on display and listened to a talk on them, we walked around the castle and up to the Mill and Engine House, then right around and through the castle itself, across the curtain walls and up Guy's Tower. Phew. A tiring day.

    November 1st, 2004Dovedale, Derbyshire UK - 2004
Winter drive out to Dovedale in the Peak District of Derbyshire, with Daniel. We regularly visit Dovedale for a walk and to taken in the peaceful scenery. Sadly, it seems to get busier up there every year. Sometimes, Daniel and I walk all the way to the top of Thorpe Cloud, but this time was just a slow walk along the river, via the difficult side of the river. The rock falls away into the river more and more each year and very little path is left on one side, which makes it more fun! On this occasion, the stepping stones were quite flooded, but this never stops someone trying to cross them.
    September 1st, 2004Bolsover Castle, Derbyshire UK - 2004
A drive out with Andrew in his Lotus Elise to Bolsover Castle in Derbyshire, and a wander around this fascinating partially ruined (and supposedly haunted) castle which was last inhabited in 1883 and is now owned by English Heritage.

The original castle was built by the Peverel family in the 12th century. Since then, it has been destroyed and re-built countless times, and buildings added over time. The 'little castle' was built in 1621. A large part of the castle is made up of the Riding School Range which was built from around 1634.
